In 1983, the pids has sought mainly to pursue the research initiatives instituted in previous years. Additionally, deliberate efforts are made to strengthen and consolidate both the Institute’s research capabilities and financial position to enable it to respond more effectively to contemporary needs and long-term challenges. In research, 1983 has seen the continued implementation of the Institute’s research program. In addition, seventeen research projects were initiated. To make its research more relevant and useful, PIDS has sponsored frequent dialogues and fora for exchange of ideas between researchers and users. Research dissemination activities are presented in Section 2 while the Institute’s financial operations are presented in Section3.
