Analyzing Filipinos’ Openness to Trade Partnerships and Globalization Using Sentiment Analysis

This paper examines Filipinos’ openness to globalization and trade partnerships using text mining and sentiment analysis to assess prevailing attitudes on these issues, particularly considering the Philippines’ ratification of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The study finds generally favorable sentiments toward globalization and trade openness among Filipinos. It helps identify public opinion across various groups, shedding light on how these sentiments relate to the impacts of trade policies and globalization on different sectors. The findings provide insights for policymakers, aiding in understanding the public’s views and addressing concerns regarding trade agreements like the RCEP. By gaining a better understanding of these sentiments, policymakers can communicate the benefits of globalization more effectively, ensuring that the potential economic advantages are clearly understood and leveraged.
