SERP-P hosted its 6th knowledge-sharing on land use governance


On March 25, 2024, SERP-P conducted the 6th installment of its knowledge-sharing forum on the theme “State of Land Use Policy and Governance in the Philippines” featuring three esteemed presenters: PIDS Senior Research Fellow Dr. Adoracion Navarro, UP-Center for Integrative and Development Studies Research Analyst Mr. Rafael Vicente Dimalanta, and UPLB College of Forestry and Natural Resources Professor Emeritus Dr. Rex Victor Cruz.

This forum featured pertinent studies from PIDS and SERP-P partner institutions, centered around the theme “State of Land Use Policy and Governance in the Philippines”. Explore the country’s landscape of land use governance as we delve into its multifaceted challenges and propose recommendations for effective solutions.

Three studies are featured in this seminar:

• "Urban Poor Land and Housing Struggles in Metro Manila" by UP-Center for Integrative and Development Studies Junior Research Analyst Raphael Dimalanta;
• "The Need for a National Land Use Act in the Philippines" by PIDS Senior Research Fellow Dr. Adoracion Navarro and,
• “Watershed Integrated Area Land Use Planning Project” by UP Los Baños-College of Forestry and Natural Resources Professor Emeritus Dr. Rex Victor Cruz.

As part of SERP-P’s commitment to fostering collaborative research and promoting evidence-based discussions on pressing development issues, this initiative provides a platform for our partner institutions to disseminate their knowledge outputs and enhance research networking within the SERP-P community.

The event was joined by 51 onsite and 1031 online attendees. SERP-P Project Coordinator, Ezekiel Nicomedes, served as the event's emcee, while Dr. Sonny Domingo, SERP-P Project Manager, acted as the moderator during the open forum.
