SERP-P Annual Symposium explores intersection of socioeconomic trends and innovations

The Socioeconomic Research Portal for the Philippines (SERP-P), an initiative of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), held an Annual Symposium and Meeting which brought together government agencies and research institutions to discuss the latest trends and innovations in knowledge dissemination. The event featured two sessions of interactive discussions and workshop.

Attended by over 30 partners, the SERP-P Network Annual Symposium and Meeting underscored the importance of collaboration and open access to knowledge in advancing socioeconomic research and policymaking in the Philippines. It served as a catalyst for further engagement and knowledge sharing among government, academia, and the private sector, paving the way for more informed and effective decision-making in the years to come.

“I am very proud of what SERP-P has achieved in the last 23 years. Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) owes SERP-P’s success to all of you—our partners—because without your continued support, we would not have sustained and expanded SERP-P,” remarked PIDS President Aniceto Orbeto Jr.

“Thanks to all of you, what started as an online database has evolved into a network of institutions with a shared passion for knowledge generation and exchange, adaptable to change and resilient to uncertainty,” he added.

Comprising of 64 partner institutions, the SERP-P Network serves as a unique platform for fostering collaboration and exchanging knowledge on a wide range of socioeconomic issues. This year, SERP-P welcomed the Senate Economic Planning Office and the National Economic and Development Authority Region V as new members, further expanding the network’s reach and expertise.

The symposium recognized the University of the Philippines - Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP-CIDS) as the top contributor of publications to the SERP-P platform. The UP School of Urban and Regional Planning (UP-SURP) and De La Salle University – Angelo King Institute (DLSU-AKI) were also recognized for their significant contributions to the network’s knowledge base.

SERP-P (https://serp-p.pids.gov.ph/) is an online knowledge resource of socioeconomic materials relevant to Philippine development and policymaking. It connects users to a diverse range of studies and resources from academic and research institutions, government agencies, and international organizations in the Philippines.
