What is Wrong with Economics?

Join the DLSU-Angelo King Institute on its webinar about the state of economics, main current debates and controversies, how governments and central banks have reacted to the recent economic crises, and macroeconomics in developing countries.

Professor William Mitchell will serve as the speaker. Professor Mitchell holds the Chair in Economics and is the Director of the Centre of Full Employment and Equity at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is also the Docent Professor of Global Political Economy at the University of Helsinki, Finland, and JSPS International Fellow at Kyoto University, Japan.

He is the author of various books, including Eurozone Dystopia, Reclaiming the State, and the textbook Macroeconomics.

He is one of the major exponents of the school of thought known as Modern Money Theory (MMT). MMT proponents were very active during the COVID pandemic favoring government spending, and not just during crises.
