Every two years on March, WAGI holds the National Women's Summit. It is envisioned as a gathering of women from all sectors, groups, and organizations. Held every two or three years. It was inspired and initiated by Sen. Leticia Ramos Shahani who was formerly Dean of the College of International, Humanitarian and Development Studies at Miriam College together with Gigi Francisco of DAWN and Aurora Javate De Dios from the Women and Gender Institute in 2009. It envisioned the NWS as a forum for women to share their thoughts, ideas, experiences, and insights on national and international issues with a gender perspective. Over the years, National Women Summits have been graced by Chile's President Michele Bachelet, women parliamentarians, diplomats, young women, from the grassroots and the professions from ASEAN and the Philippines.
