The FY 2022 National Budget is crucial as the country battles on its third year the COVID-19 pandemic, and strives to restore the economy even as its recovery is threatened by surges of cases and lockdowns, and calamities. With a record-breaking contraction of 9.6% in 2020, and a rather depressed economic outlook for 2021, next year's budget should be able to strategically allocate resources to address underlying causes of uncertainties in the economy. This paper explores the various dimensions of the Proposed FY 2022 National Budget, and consists of the following major sections: 1) Sectoral allocation; 2) Allocation by expense class; 3) Allocation by department; 4) Special Purpose Funds; and 5) Budget utilization. It is intended to provide relevant budgetary information to policymakers and aid in further discussion(s) of the 2022 national budget.
