The paper addresses the shortcomings of UNSC economic sanctions in dissuading North Korea from developing its nuclear weapons and missiles programs. In order to ensure compliance and reduce nuclear provocations, regional players and the rest of the international community have to cooperate closely in fulfilling their obligations and understanding North Korea’s methods of evading sanctions.
