The assessment of the relationship between alternative livelihood projects and illegal fishing operations by municipal and commercial fishing operators in Region 1, Northwestern Philippines was carried out in this paper. From the assessment, the data of alternative livelihood projects from the four coastal provinces of Ilocos Region , Philippines against the data of illegal fishing operations in Lingayen Gulf and Ilocos Bay, was derived. The study made use of municipal/ city and commercial illegal fishing operations data from 2008 and present, and 2011 and on-going alternative livelihood projects for them. The use of correlation statistic was conducted to determine the relationship of the data. From the result, it is found out that alternative livelihood projects, and municipal/ city and commercial illegal fishing operators' profile including their operations in the region has substantial relationship.
