DRN 2012 Vol. XXX No. 3: Reading between the Poverty Lines: Revisions in the Official Poverty Thresholds

Poverty is regarded as the most challenging issue that every political administration in the Philippines is facing. It has been a top priority of any government precisely because it remains to be a serious problem in the country. Targeting the poor is an important component of poverty reduction. The main feature of this DRN explains the revised methodology for determining the poverty line. It has generated some negative feedbacks when it was released. Hopefully, this article will assuage pessimistic perceptions that have flourished, which even claimed the revisions as politically motivated.
