SU 1994-03: Relevance in Agriculture Education: The Alternative Approach to Learning and Teaching Agriculture

In 1984, the Silliman University College of Agriculture began to develop an innovative approach in the teaching of agriculture called An Alternative Approach to Learning and Teaching Agriculture or simply AA. The AA is experiential, competency-based, and problem-based. It also adopts systems thinking. There were problems at every step of the implementation of this approach, challenging the authors to continuously realign strategies with the learners’ needs and present realities.
