The Socio-Economic Profile of the El Shaddai Members in Selected Areas in Greater Manila


The study aims to describe the socio-economic profile of the El Shaddai members in selected areas of Greater Manila. The socio-economic indicators considered in the study were source of income; job positioning in company; place of work; ownership of house and lot; type of house and kinds of construction materials used; ownership of durable goods such as transport facilities, air conditioner, computer, expensive cell phone and others; educational attainment; other sources of income (aside from business and practice of profession) such as pension, income from rent, financial help from relatives working abroad. A total of two hundred (200) respondents answered the four-page survey instrument. Another One hundred (100) respondents were considered for personal interviews. Very few respondents belonging to the upper and middle classes responded because of apprehension on information leak. Others did not answer because of fear of lack of permit from Mr. Mike Velarde, the El Shaddai leader. The results of the survey were analyzed using the descriptive statistics. Other results show that the majority of the respondents belong to middle-middle and upper-lower income earner residing in such places like Tondo, Binondo, Sampaloc, Sta. Ana, Sta. Mesa, Sta. Cruz, Paco, Pandacan, San Andres, Quiapo, Baseco and Malate.
