The internationalization of services presents both challenges and opportunities for the Philippines. On one hand, it creates the opportunity to expand services exports as well as to increase access to efficient services that will contribute to the country's economic development. On the other hand, the trend towards opening up the domestic services sector will present some adjustment problems. The challenge for the Philippines is how to fully take advantage of these developments to realize gains from the internationalization of services.
