In this paper, we discuss the corporate governance system in the Philippines, the relationship of this system Philippine political governance, and how corporate governance affects economic activity. We conclude by focusing on the role of monitors and argue for the necessity of a governmental role in this monitoring activity as a means of making the Philippine corporate governance system more effective.
