B2.4 B12.2: GENERAL AGREEMENT ON TRADE IN HEALTH SERVICES (GATS): THE CASE OF THE PHILIPPINES (FINAL REPORT)

The findings of the paper indicates that the Philippines would potentially gain from the GATS if it will reallocate its resources to potential areas where the health services sector can fully participate. The paper recommends the country to liberalize te professional service sub-sectors to allow them access and entry abroad. The paper concludes that government should also minimize possible damage to public health objectives while maximizing economic and social benefits expected from trade.
