SDRC TR 1998-10: Postpartum Family Planning Services in the Philippines: An Assessment of Current

The main objective of the study was to document the range of quality of postpartum family planning services in the Philippines. Specifically, it assessed the nature and completeness of information supplied by service providers to clients concerning the initiation and use of individual contraceptive methods and scrutinized the postpartum family planning practices as reported by mothers in order to determine their compliance to the rules concerning contraceptive use. The study provided national-level information on the provision and utilization of postpartum family planning services in 28 provinces as well as follow-up mechanisms and socio-cultural barriers affecting the utilization and provision of postpartum family planning care.
