UNESC 1990-NEW: Breast-feeding Trends and the Breast-feeding Promotion Programme in the Philippines

The paper traces the breastfeeding trends in the Philippines and looks into the probable cause of the decline of breastfeeding in the country. Despite heightened awareness of the contraceptive and nutritive benefits of breastfeeding, there is significant decrease in breastfeeding incidence and duration noted. The paper reports lengthily on the causes for the decline as well as the measures being used to contain and spur breastfeeding practices especially in areas where there are more women and mothers joining the work force.
