In the face of deteriorating mass transportation system in the country, and the failure of both crisis-oriented and ad-hoc, and long-range programs to arrest the problem, the article ventures into a consideration of alternative solutions therefor. To do this, the article presents the review and analysis of some short-range, action-oriented and non-capital intensive urban mass transit techniques and their practical applicability in solving the transportation crisis in Metropolitan Manila. Through the analysis of case studies, the paper attempts at recommendations of strategies and techniques, and changes and modifications to these, that may be applied to the problem at hand.
