Urban Planning and State Corporatism: The Philippine Experience Under Martial Law

The paper examines the impact of martial law in the practice of urban planning in the Philippines. In particular, it discusses the political system Pres. Marcos instituted, a form of state corporatism, which gave rise to the prominence of a technocratic sector largely responsible for popularizing the practice and jargon of planning and which at the same time set back urban planning in the country.
