The Greater Manila Area is an important economic center and the hub of industrial activities in the Philippines, as manifested by an assortment of economic zones situated in the area. However, existing flood management facilities are inadequate to protect the population and economic assets that are recurrently affected by flooding. Although the government recognizes that disaster logistics planning is crucial, it is often a neglected part of the government's management actions, and thus, many logistics firms are still at a low level of disaster preparedness. Therefore, it is imperative that the government as well as logistics firms are proactive in their approach to disaster logistics management and planning. This paper aimed to propose strategic policy measures on logistics planning that the government can consider to mitigate the adverse impacts of flood disasters on economic zones in the Greater Manila Area. A more pro-active government approach is perceived as necessary to prepare for flood disasters.
