STAKEHOLDERS’ PARTICIPATION IN ACHIEVING THE TARGET COURSE OUTCOMES OF THE NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM-CWTS IN A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY IN THE PHILIPPINES

Course outcomes explain the learning that should manifest in a particular curriculum through concise statements that are specific, measurable, and attainable in terms of what learners should know and be able to do upon completing a course. This study assessed stakeholders’ participation in achieving the target course outcomes of the National Service Training Program-Community Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) at a private university in the Philippines. Descriptive-comparative and qualitative research designs were employed in the study. The collected data were tallied and statistically analyzed using the weighted mean, median, mode, and t-test. Focus group discussions and interviews were also used to gather firsthand information from randomly selected participants in the university’s community partners. Three hundred ninety respondents answered the survey instrument, while ten participants from each barangay were gathered for a focus group discussion. This study revealed that the target course outcomes of the NSTP-CWTS Curriculum were manifested to a moderate extent by CWTS graduates, as evidenced by the data gathered from respondents and verified by stakeholders. The study also revealed that civic consciousness and volunteerism were observed among stakeholders as manifested by the CWTS graduates. Interviews with other stakeholders revealed that CWTS graduates are equipped with the skills and attitudes to volunteer in the community. The researchers proposed that the NSTP-CWTS curriculum be continually enhanced to fully meet the target course outcomes.
