This paper analyzes the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) of the Philippines from 2020 to 2024 to assess its export competitiveness within the framework of the Tatak Pinoy (Proudly Filipino) Act. The study identifies that while the Philippines maintains a strong comparative advantage in electronic products, which account for over half of its total exports, this advantage is concentrated in low-value-added semiconductor assembly and testing. Beyond electronics, the country shows competitiveness in manufactured goods, mineral products, and agricultural commodities like coconut oil and fruits. However, the paper highlights significant challenges, including a "middle-technology trap," high power costs, and infrastructure gaps that hinder the diversification into high-complexity products. To align with the Tatak Pinoy strategy, the authors recommend moving up the global value chain through targeted industrial policies, increased R&D investment, and the development of sophisticated "green" and digital products.
