More Spending, Limited Results: PIDS Study Flags Gaps in Food Security Outcomes

This issue of the Development Research News highlights the importance of strengthening policies, institutions, and investments to improve development outcomes and human well-being. The banner article discusses that increased spending on food security has not automatically led to better nutrition and food outcomes, underscoring the need for more effective programs. Another article explores the challenges that constrain the commercialization of publicly funded agrifood innovations and identifies reforms needed to strengthen technology transfer. Two articles on population and reproductive health emphasize the need to adapt policies to demographic change and ensure accessible, culturally responsive family planning services. Completing the issues are articles on health financing and governance that call for stronger support for primary healthcare, improved quality-of-care monitoring, and more robust safeguards against fraud to advance Universal Health Care.
