This paper examines the franchise tax or privilege tax on businesses enjoying franchises and presents sample cases on the local franchise tax referred to the Bureau of Local Government Finance and the Supreme Court to provide clarifications on the implementation and imposition of the said tax under the Local Government Code of 1991, as amended.
