The study at hand generally aims to provide estimates on the direct and immediate effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in terms of forgone salaries and remittances—considering their varying sociodemographic profile and prevailing salaries and remittances. Hence, this research specifically intends to: (1) depict the sociodemographic profile; (2) determine prevailing salaries earned and remittances sent; and (3) analyze the direct and immediate loss in salaries and remittances of returned OFWs whose contracts were cut short due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
