This paper analyzes the dominance of political dynasties in the Philippines and their effects on governance, democracy, and socio-economic development. It highlights how dynastic families control most cities and provinces, often undermining fair competition and perpetuating inequality. Despite constitutional bans, dynasties persist due to weak legislation and entrenched interests. The study demonstrates how data science techniques—such as network analysis and machine learning—can uncover dynastic structures and inform policy reforms aimed at promoting merit-based politics and stronger democratic institutions.
