The Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 is the first of four medium-term plans that is anchored on this long-term vision. Consistent with the PDP, the Regional Development Plan (RDP) for the same period is likewise anchored on Ambisyon Natin 2040. The RDP envisions the region to be the “Gateway to East Asia, its economy driven by agro-industries, manufacturing, information technology-based industries, nature and culture tourism, where people are living in peace and prosperity.”
In the midst of implementing the Plan, the COVID-19 pandemic tested our resolve to achieve our vision and targets. Aswe embark on a new medium-term plan, our collective vision remains as our anchor in helping the country transform the economy towards the attainment of a prosperous, inclusive and resilient society.
The discussion that follows shows how the regional economy fared during the past Plan period and likewise highlights the development challenges which the region will continue to address during the next six years.
