As the Bicol Region's economy continued to gradually and safely re-open, more improvements were seen in 2021 compared to 2020. The monthly inflation rates in the Bicol region exhibited an erratic trend but settled down to 3.6 percent in December. The Bicol region's labor market situation slightly improved, with a higher employment rate of 91.2 percent, lower unemployment rate of 8.8 percent, and lower underemployment rate of 25.6 percent. The taxes paid by large-scale mining companies significantly increased by 47.8 percent, and the production value of metallic and non-metallic minerals improved by 10.0 percent. The production of palay and corn increased by 4.0 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively. The conduct of tourism events gave the Bicolanos a tour of the Philippines within the borders of the Bicol Region.
