Annual Regional Economic Situationer 2020

The annual regional economic situationer highlights the region's economic performance based on selected indicators, namely: prices and inflation rate, labor force situation, agricultural production, mineral production, tourist arrivals, and the development outlook for 2021. The imposition of community quarantine due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in mid-March of 2020 and the tropical cyclones that ravaged Bicol Region in the last quarter of 2020 significantly affected the region's economy. More workers were displaced resulting in lower employment and higher unemployment rates. Prices of some commodities and services went up. The volume of mineral production decreased but the value of minerals increased. Agriculture sector improved while the tourism industry remained gloomy.
