This paper focuses on the husband's physical violence against his wife which is considered a crime in China.
It reports on an empirical study made in four places (Shanghai, Guangdong, Shanxi and Sichuan) and analyses the characteristics of both offenders and victims as well as the causes of domestic violence. The author suggests ways of protecting women and preventing violence.
