With the theme “Advancing SDG 11 and 17 in the Age of Urban Challenges,” the lecture aims to deepen understanding of urban planning challenges in the Philippines and examine initiatives that promote inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities. It also aims to examine SDG 11 strategies related to disaster risk reduction, sustainable transport, and sustainable cities and human settlements, and to highlight the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in advancing the SDGs. Additionally, the lecture aims to facilitate dialogue and the sharing of best planning practices and strategies among academics, practitioners, and experts in urban and regional planning, and provide sustainable and evidenced-based solutions to urban planning issues aligned with the global sustainable development agenda.
